In the Regents Spotlight

VFW Citizenship & Education Teacher of the Year

Regents Academy’s own fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Lori Cunyus, was awarded the K-5 Citizenship and Education Teacher of the Year Award for our local VFW Post 3893. She received a plaque and a check with her award. She also advanced to the district level and was awarded a plaque and a check for Teacher of the Year for District 19.

We are very proud of Mrs. Cunyus and even more thankful for her involvement with our students and Regents family.

CTP4 Testing
Our 3rd-9th grade students will take the CTP4 standardized test the week of October 25th.  Teachers will keep homework and studying to a minimum for these students so that they can get plenty of rest and be at their best during the school day. Please get lots of sleep and eat a good breakfast during testing. Students who are taking the tests should bring a snack and a good book to read in case they get finished early.

Favorite Fictional Character Day - November 2nd
The Regents Library is sponsoring a school-wide special costume day--Favorite Fictional Character Day on Wednesday, November 2.  That's right! For one entire day, all the students will be celebrating books, talking about their favorite books, and discovering new ones to love. How much fun will it be to see Tom Sawyer walking through Regents' hallways? Or Heidi? How about Chester Cricket? Or Dickens' Ghost of Christmas Past? The possibilities are endless and may be as simple as jeans and a t-shirt (Ordinary Boy) or as elaborate as a southern belle gown (Scarlett O'Hara) or a full-blown armored knight (Sir Gawain). Be sure to check with your teacher and get your character choice approved.  With Halloween approaching, it could be the right time to find a good costume for your favorite fictional character.
