In the Regents Spotlight

VFW Citizenship & Education Teacher of the Year

Regents Academy’s own fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Lori Cunyus, was awarded the K-5 Citizenship and Education Teacher of the Year Award for our local VFW Post 3893. She received a plaque and a check with her award. She also advanced to the district level and was awarded a plaque and a check for Teacher of the Year for District 19.

We are very proud of Mrs. Cunyus and even more thankful for her involvement with our students and Regents family.

Back to School Night/Open House
All parents are invited to a Back to School Night and Open House on Tuesday, September 6, from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Come enjoy refreshments and opportunities to connect with teachers and other parents. Student work will be displayed, and curriculum will be available for your review.  Do you know someone who might be interested in Regents Academy? This Back to School night is for current Regents parents, but it is also an Open House for friends, neighbors, and potential supporters of the school.  Since childcare will not be provided, we would ask parents not to bring children to Open House.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Tuesday/Friday Hot Lunch
Please send a lunch with your child each day for the first two weeks of school.  The hot lunch program will begin on Tuesday, August 30.  September Pizza lunches only are $28.75 per student.  Friday September lunches only are $17.25 per student.  September Tuesday and Friday lunches are $46.00 per student.  Lunch payments are due Wednesday, August 24.  No late payments will be accepted.  A Hot Lunch information sheet has is in the packet that went home the night of Parent Orientation.  Please let us know if you need another information sheet.  If you would like to volunteer to serve lunch on Tuesday or Friday, please contact Ellen Fairley at 715-7225 to volunteer.

Tuesday Homework Help
Our Tuesday Homework Help Program will begin the second week of school, Tuesday, August 23.  This program will take place each Tuesday from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Any grammar school student in Kindergarten through 6th grade may come and receive homework or study help from a volunteer teacher, a volunteer 8th-12th grade student, or our ECHO Coordinator, Mrs. Kaki Nelson. This program is not meant to replace the work you are already doing to help your children, but instead it is meant to augment your help and to give a step up to students who are struggling with particular skills or subjects. Please contact Mrs. Nelson for more information. You can email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  If your children are coming to Tuesday Homework Help, they only need to show up, and we will pair them up with a volunteer. The students can remain after school for tutoring, and you can pick them up at 4:45 p.m.
